Banished is a city-building strategy videogame developed by Shining Rock Software exclusively for Windows PC. Banished relies on meticulous resource management mechanics and deals with the survival of an isolated, sprawling society. This title is similar to other building games such as The Settlers or Sim City, so if you have already played games like these, you will be sure to enjoy this one.
Banished is a dynamic game from the very first moment
The aim of Banished is to control the citizens of a distant community in exile in order to improve and maintain the new settlement. The game is mainly focused on the individual inhabitants that live in the city, as these are the main source of basic resources. They are born; they grow up, work, have children and finally die. It’s essential to keep them healthy and happy so that the city grows.
A New Life
Banished allows you to construct different kinds of buildings to satisfy your beloved citizens’ basic needs. They will work hard harvesting and transforming basic resources so their new life is much more bearable. Unlike other simulators, Banished is a dynamic game from the very first moment, as you will watch how your villagers move around the settlement like hard-working ants. Each family needs its own home, either a wooden cabin or one made of stone, and a certain amount of food so that they can survive. If there aren’t enough houses, new families won’t be created and the growth process of the city will suddenly stop. If there isn’t enough food, the villagers will start suffering the effects of famine… until they die of starvation.
Each character has its own name, age and gender. As children they won’t have any concern but to be happy, fed and protected. When they reach adolescence, they join the group of active people. They will want to marry and have their own home to be free, and you can put them in charge of some tasks. However, you won’t be able to directly choose if whats-his-name will be an architect or a farmer. You are free to choose how many workers you need for a specific task, and the system will choose them automatically. Banished doesn’t discriminate between previous experience and education, instead, the system chooses workers according to the distance between their home and their workplace, optimizing the travelling time.
