Square-Enix has revived the PC saga Deus Ex, newly developed by Eidos-Montreal, adapting it to our current times and offering a new twist of the screw for the cyberpunk saga. In this Deus Ex: The Fall, we take the control of Ben Saxon, a mercenary previously part of the British Special Air Service (SAS) who now serves as an augmented merc for hire. This time the game is only available in the digital download edition.
The game was originally planned to be downloadable for mobile platforms like iOS and Android, and now has been ported with a higher resolution for PC. Although it was supposed to be a reference such as the previous Deus EX: Human Revolution, the truth is that Deus Ex: The Fall for PC is not as good as it should be, and the mechanics that were perfect for smartphones and tablets for computer simply lack the depth that once was the main aspect of the series. The title takes you to a Neuropozyne crisis, a drug used for augmented people to avoid implanted rejections, and the mission for getting more at Panama City. Illuminati, drug black market and the mercenary group Tyrants appear during the game, linking Human Revolution to Deus Ex: The Fall.

Technically speaking the game is surprisingly poor for PC, since the effects are ported from the mobile version, and in higher resolutions, they look vulgar in spite of graphical effects such as anti-aliasing and the vertical sync added for this computer port. If you take a look at the firing guns, you will notice the poorly realized effects, as well as some faces that looked better on smartphones than in the PC version with higher resolutions. The gameplay control system has been adapted for keyboard and mouse, but it seems to be more oriented to gamepad controller use due to some issues with the usual PC combination, but key binding is not customizable. There are some aspects from the smartphone version that has been replaced, such as the auto-target option.
The game is not as detailed as Human Revolution, neither in the plot nor in the technical aspect, which lacks its essence. The game is way easier than it should be; the AI is not good enough in our opinion, and the overall time you will take to beat the game completely won’t surpass about 7 hours in any of its platforms. There are several issues with interaction with the environment, in part due to the bad sensibility of the camera when you are using the mouse.
Although it is said that each action during the game has its own consequence, this is not completely true. Now you can kill each enemy you find without repercussions since the bodies will disappear in a couple seconds, so you won’t be discovered this way. Deus EX: The Fall includes explorable environments that at least give some liberty to the player in some situations.
The main aspect of this series is the possibility of enhancing your character with new in-game abilities such as longer jumps, more strength or other destructive skills. On the other hand, you can improve Saxon in other ways such as better conversational skills to make people give you valuable information for your mission.

In my opinion, the mobile version of Deus EX: Human Revolution is much more appealing and exciting than this PC version entitled Deus Ex: The Fall. I have noticed that some features are changed especially the technical aspects of the game.
Deus Ex: The Fall that comes with the full version is also entertaining. The resolution of the game is improved to fit the demands of PC. This version’s storyline is only the continuation of the last one. Ben Saxon is the main protagonist in the game. He is a member of British Special Air Service (SAS) who has a mission to get more Neuropozyne crisis at Panama City. One great feature of the game is that there are improved character abilities like jumping higher than the usual one, new strategic skills for combat and more energy while in the mission. Dangerous machines are just some of the enemies to destroy. Don’t underestimate these because they also got some weapons to kill Ben. I also like the effects in the game. They seemed to be realistic most especially when conversing with other people to get some information.
At first, I had hard time using the controls in my PC, but as I went along, I got used to it and somehow enjoyed this version.
- The resolution for PC is enhanced
- The storyline is amazing and interesting
- There should be more abilities and weapons
